While we didn't end up getting a diagnostic or repair, there is something to be said about their superior communication and willingness to work with the customer's timeline. I was able to call the technician assigned to us last minute and cancel our appointment which was helpful as our needs changed unexpectedly.

Called to repair our dishwasher. They came to my home promptly and informed me of a service fee to come out to diagnose the problem. No problem, the service fee applies to the labor costs of repair. The problem was identified and, although they needed to come back twice with parts, the dishwasher is fixed! The technician was a bit stumped by the problem but he persevered after calling the manufacturer. I appreciate the extra time and consideration and saving me the time and money of buying a new dishwasher.

Dishwasher Miele Moe arrived in a timely manner. He was polite, respectful and knew immediately how to effect the repair. Since this is not a common appliance, I had suspected that he had done his homework before he had arrived.

Common Residential Refrigerator Problems We Fix

Here are some of the most common issues we repair for homeowners every day:

  • Fridge not cooling properly – caused by dirty coils, thermostat failure, or compressor issues.

  • Water leaking under or inside the fridge – often from a clogged defrost drain or broken water line.

  • Loud or unusual noises – may point to a failing motor, compressor, or loose component.

  • Ice maker not working – usually linked to a blocked water line or faulty inlet valve.

  • Freezer frosting or temperature fluctuations – due to worn door seals or defrost system failure.

  • Interior lights or display not working – can result from a damaged door switch or control board.

  • Refrigerator running constantly – often caused by temperature sensor or gasket issues.

Each repair is completed using manufacturer-approved parts and thoroughly tested to ensure full cooling performance.

Freezer repairs come with a plethora of questions. We’ve curated this FAQ section, diving deep into common concerns to give you clarity and peace of mind.

Yes—most noisy refrigerators can be fixed, and the solution often depends on where the sound is coming from. Common causes include a failing evaporator fan, condenser fan, loose components, or a refrigerator that’s not level.
In many Alexandria, Arlington, and DC homes, noise issues are linked to dust buildup or worn fan motors rather than major failures. A professional diagnosis can quickly identify the source and restore quiet operation without replacing the entire unit.

A leaking refrigerator is usually caused by a clogged defrost drain, damaged water line, cracked drain pan, or excess condensation due to door seal issues.
In the DMV area, humidity changes and frequent door use often worsen these problems. Water pooling inside or under your fridge shouldn’t be ignored—it can damage flooring and lead to mold. Timely repair prevents larger, costlier issues.

Repairing an older refrigerator can be cost-effective, depending on the issue and overall condition of the unit.
If the fridge is cooling well and the repair involves components like fans, thermostats, sensors, or door seals, repair is usually the smarter choice. However, for repeated breakdowns or major sealed-system failures, replacement may make more sense. A local technician can help homeowners in Bethesda, Alexandria, and DC weigh repair vs. replacement honestly.

Yes—most major refrigerator and freezer brands are serviceable, including Samsung, LG, GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, and more.
Technicians serving Arlington, Washington DC, and surrounding DMV areas regularly work on both residential and commercial units, including French door, side-by-side, bottom freezer, and built-in models.

For urgent freezer or refrigerator issues, same-day or emergency service is often available across Alexandria VA, Arlington VA, Washington DC, and Bethesda MD.
This is especially important when food is at risk of spoiling or when commercial freezers stop working. Fast local dispatch helps minimize losses and restore cooling as quickly as possible.

Yes—compressor replacement is one of the most expensive refrigerator repairs, as it involves labor, refrigerant handling, and specialized tools.
That said, replacement may still be worthwhile for newer or high-end refrigerators. For older units, a local DMV technician can assess whether investing in a compressor makes sense or if replacement is the better long-term option.
